Baa Baa Baa — Sheep at Gathering Ground!

In April, 2020, we will be welcoming six White Dorper hair sheep to Gathering Ground. We couldn’t be more excited. A big part of our motivation is to experiment with using the sheep to keep the weeds in the vineyard and orchards at bay, and to offer their gift of fertilizer to the ground to help our plants grow strong. No doubt, we will have a lot of experimenting to do to see what works and what doesn’t, but can’t wait.

Also, school students will be involved in the design and build of a structure for the sheep to shelter in at night. Look forward to their handiwork at Gathering Ground this April!

If you want to get involved and help us tend our sheep, please let us know! We are also looking for donors to help us with purchasing portable fence for the sheep.
